Chalisa Meaning, Bajrang Baan & Pooja

Lord Hanuman — supreme devotee of Lord Rama, son of Vayu (wind deity), eternally young (Chiranjeevi), possessor of infinite strength, and remover of all fears — is worshipped with Sindoor, Chameli oil, Ladoo, and recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa. At eMandirs, perform complete virtual Hanuman pooja, ring the bell, light diya, and recite the Chalisa. Also visit the Ganesh Mandir, Shiv Mandir, Krishna Mandir, and Ram Mandir.

Hanuman Moola Mantra

Om Ham Hanumate Namah

Meaning: "Om — universal sound. Ham — Hanuman's seed syllable (Beej). Hanumate — to Hanuman (Hanu = jaw in Sanskrit). Namah — I bow." This 11-syllable mantra invokes Hanuman's protection, courage, and infinite strength.

Opening Verse

With firm faith, love, and reverence, whoever makes request to Hanuman — all their auspicious works shall be fulfilled by Hanuman.

The Bajrang Baan is the most powerful protective prayer in Hanuman worship, recited against severe obstacles, fear, or enemy trouble. Chant with deep sincerity and faith.

Cleansing the mirror of my mind with Guru's lotus feet dust — I recite Rama's pure glory that grants life's four fruits. Knowing my body devoid of intelligence, I remember Pavankumar (Hanuman). Grant me strength, wisdom, knowledge — remove my sorrow and faults.
Victory to Hanuman — ocean of wisdom and virtue, Lord of monkeys illuminating the three worlds. Messenger of Rama, abode of incomparable strength — son of Anjani, known as Pavansuta (son of the wind).

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times should Hanuman Chalisa be recited daily?
1–3 times for daily protection and blessings. 7 times for urgent prayers (removing obstacles, illness, fear). 11, 21, or 108 times for intense sadhana. The Chalisa's 23rd verse "Sankat se Hanuman chhudave" is said to destroy Saturn's (Shani's) adverse power.
Why is Sindoor applied to Hanuman idol?
When Mata Sita applied Sindoor for Lord Rama's longevity, Hanuman smeared it all over his body — declaring that if Sindoor could extend Ram's life, covering his entire body would make Ram immortal. Since then Sindoor is Hanuman's hallmark offering and His idols are anointed in red-orange vermilion.
Is Hanuman Chalisa different from the Hanuman mantra?
Yes. The Chalisa is a 40-verse hymn (Stotra) composed by Sant Tulsidas in the 16th century in Awadhi language for complete devotional prayer. The Hanuman mantra (ॐ हं हनुमते नमः) is a concise Vedic mantra for focused Japa on a mala (108-bead rosary). Both are powerful and complementary.
